The two jobs that keep an app installed.
A gym app lives or dies on booking a class and proving membership. Those two journeys need to be fast, obvious and reliable at the door with a phone in one hand. If they are not, members go back to the website or the front desk and the app gets deleted.
Programmes, tracking, streaks, nutrition and community feeds are the features most often asked for and most often unused. They are worth building once the core two work, and only if members are asking for them.
What has to be fast
- Feature 1
Book, change and cancel a class in a few taps.
- Feature 2
Membership status a member can show at the door, offline.
- Feature 3
Timetable changes and closures that reach members before they arrive.
The real question is what you already run.

Most gyms already have a membership and booking system. The size of an app project is decided by whether that system will talk to an app, what it exposes, and who supports it — not by the number of screens.
We would establish that before scoping. If the platform cannot integrate, the honest options are a smaller app around what it can do, or a conversation about changing platform, and we would say which we think it is.
How Zynx would approach it.
We define the first useful release, work the booking and check-in flows through a prototype, then build and review on real devices. Modes Media Player, our published app, is the standard: native, fast, and designed to keep working when the connection drops — which in a basement gym it will.
